Settlers to Savannah from Beverley, England

Arms of Charles II; visited Beverley while the Clay family tenure
Joseph Clay was born in Beverley, England,  and settled in Savannah.   Clay & Woodruff, attorney, practised law in Savannah for many years. Later he was Judge of the U. S. District Court and a member of the State Convention which adopted the Constitution of 1798. The biography of Joseph Clay is found under "biographies" in Georgia Pioneers
